Introduction

I'm a 23 year old male who resides in Lansing, MI. This site pretty much was built out of boredom. I am a Supervisor in the Technical Support Department for a Web Hosting company which has its own datacenter here in Lansing. The server this site runs on is located in that datacenter, naturally. I love Linux, and computers in general. I am a HAM Radio operator, and a member of the Lansing RACES and Skywarn groups here. I am the AEC (Assistant Emergency Coordinator) of the Ingham County Skywarn group. I drive a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT. I love sports, especially professional football. I play in multiple Fantasy Football leagues each year.

Skywarn/Amateur Radio

Another hobby of mine is to chase storms. I got my Amateur Radio Technician class license in May of 2005. My callsign is WA8BEN. I also took the Skywarn training with the Ingham County Skywarn group in April of 2005. In April of 2007, I assumed responsibility for the Ingham County Skywarn group. I do various public service events each year with the Lansing ARPSC group including maintaining their website. You can also view my amateur radio website at www.wa8ben.com

Roller Coasters

I enjoy riding roller coasters, and to date have ridden over 75 different coasters, my favorite being the Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. I enjoy visiting Cedar Point and other parks during the summer on my days off. If I feel up to it. I write about my trips on my trip reports page.

Linux

My primary job function is to support Linux and Windows webservers, so naturally computers take up a lot of my time. I have my own server which this website runs off of, among other things. I am a total Linux nut, and use it almost exclusively on all of my systems. I've become a major user of open source software as well in the past few years. I only use Windows occasionally now to play video games or use Photoshop (Yes, I realize I could use Cedega, but it's just easier to use Windows). I also enjoy working on web sites in my spare time. I keep my websites updated along with the Lansing ARPSC website. I've written all of my websites to comply with XHTML Strict and CSS standards.
